Diving into a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have encountered plenty of entertaining independent titles. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game includes a protagonist that is literally a dung striving to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is simple: just use a one button to leap. Across 150 stages, encounter boss fights and visit a shop to buy skins for your poop character.

Execute your jumps with caution, since one wrong move means starting over. Jump off air pockets to hurl the poop higher, traverse crumbling platforms, and interact with buttons to open new areas. Collect currency for buying more difficult levels as things intensifies.

Visually, the experience boasts vibrant stages and a killer background music. The simple visual style with shifting geometric shapes evokes memories of gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to think of other games where you are a piece of feces, gaming often featured scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from character excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as plant food. Unsurprisingly, this theme is present heavily in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already garnered significant awards, including winning at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is ready now on Steam, with the full game set to debut on PC this November.
